Adopted a female cat that I think is starting to bully my male alpha.?

They're both fixed, both adults, both declawed. I've had the male for 3 years and I know it's still an adjustment period (only been a week) but I want to nip it in the butt if she's truly a bully. Any suggestions would be great. I really want them to get along. I actually got her as a companion for him.
Answers:
You are right, one week is too short to draw any conclusions. They will have to work it out, and it may always be a work in progress. And don't expect it to stay one way. They will form a detente, and then there may be an attempt to change the alpha position.
I had an eight year old cat and after losing my oldest cat to complications of thyroid disease, I got two kittens. My 8 y/o cat immediately showed one of the kittens she was alpha, continually putting her into a submission position. She ignored the other kitten as she was very tiny. Now, the tiny one thinks she is sometimes alpha, and the other cat and my older cat are friends. I would say right now, no one really is alpha and this is over four years later.
If you really find that there is too much bullying going on, a squirt gun is an effective training aid, followed by the word no. But I would not act too quickly.
they act like they are married
the female controls the male
lol
they are problably just playing around but on your next visit to the vet ask
you are most likely right, the family that i adopted my cat from had the same problem so they got rid of her, they say it was becoming a huge issue. good luck
when i first got my cat she was scared so she was really vicous. the pet store said to just ignor her for about 5days(the naughty cat) for a week so no eye contact no stroking feed her but just dont give her any special treatment and be extra nice to your original cat then the naughty one will feel left out.x
had wife like that. maybe your so-called alpha male isn't? i am sure i am not alpha male. lot better with "gentler" souls than those alphas myself. let the alphas do their thing and keep away from me. cats same way. all vets hate declawing cats. messes up their minds.
It is her JOB.
In the animal kingdom the WOMEN RULE !!!
What a concept !! :)
My 40+ experience with cats, both on the farm and later in my home has shown me that neutered male cats have a tendency to be timid around a female who is doninant.and some females seem to see male cats as their kittens after a certain age (the female). They will probably work this out between them but keep an eye on them and if she gets too agressive shoot her with a water pistol. I have found over the years that a good shot of water from a water gun trains a cat quickly.
My cats do the same thing. Fiona rules Cosmo. They have a love hate relationship. It was esspecially hard on Comso because he used to rule and is a pure bred Siamese.
