Age to spay?

My kitten is almost 2 months now. How old should she be, to get spayed?
Answers:
Avoid the hassle of a female cat in heat.
Cats in heat can be very vocal and will attract a great many male cats. If you think you can wait out the heat cycle, you're in for a surprise. If the cat does not mate, she will keep going into heat every few weeks.
At what age should I have my cat spayed?
The rule is to spay/neuter before your cat reaches sexual maturity. Consult your vet concerning your cat, but remember to have the cat altered before the sexual maturity (usually before the age of 5-6 months).
Will my cat get fat and lazy?
Numerous studies have show that spaying is not a cause of weight gain in cats! You can and should spay your cat without allowing her to gain weight. Cats become fat if they eat too much and don't get enough exercise, not because of sterilization. The cat's personality is determined by its genetic make-up and by external stimuli, not by its hormone glands.
5-6 months. You want to do it before her first heat cycle. Cats can be spayed before that but it's best to wait until she is coming up on 6 months.
Vets are doing spays earlier and earlier any more - as early as 3 months but I don't agree with that - 4 months to me is too early. 5-6 months old is about right. I do believe you want to catch them before the first heat cycle tho - otherwise you run the risk of an unplanned pregnancy as there is nothing as determined as a cat in heat and they will find a way to get out and mate if there is anyway possible. I'd follow your vet's recommendations of course but, try for no earlier than 5 months old %26lt;g> Congratulations on being a responsible pet owner and being concerned enough to want to have your cat spayed! Good for you!!
As a cat breeder, I always recommend that a cat be spayed or neutered before they're 6 months old. That way they don't develop any annoying habits. The very best age to have a cat "fixed" is the one your vet recommends. They have the technology to do it at much younger ages now.
Alot of vets will now spay or neuter an animal when they are as young as 8 weeks, as long as they are big enough. Most pets are usually fixed between 4 and 6 months though.
Your kitten should be around 4 to 6 months old depending on your situation with kitty. I personally had a kitten that I adopted from my local animal shelter that went into heat around 4 months old and was spayed immediately with no problem. She is a much happier and healthier kitty today. Log your kitty's behavior for a couple of weeks and talk to your vet about what you have observed. A Vet will not normally put under a kitten of that age because it is so hard on their tiny respiratory systems. It is very likely that they will not recover from surgery that early in life. Give her a little while to mature and then take her in. Both of you will be happier for it. Wish you luck with your new baby!
5 - 6 months. Sometimes cats have not finished developing before that. Its best to seek advice from your vet before.
This all depends on if you want a litter from her. If not, 6 months is perfect, just before she will go into her first "heat'. If you want a litter first, give her about 12 weeks after the kittens are born, till they can eat on their own, but please, keep her inside during this time, otherwise you will have another litter of kittens-). cats are like rabbits, they can get pregnant while nursing. And remember, cats can have more than one father of the kittens...who knows what you will get.
six months
Current advice is from 4-6 months. As a cat can get pregnant as young as four months, get your vet's advice and get it done as soon as possible!
