Are all calico cats female?

well I waswatching this show on animal planet where theres a jewelry store and cats up for adoption and one cat was a calico and she was pregnant and the lady on the show said that all calicos are female and my female calico baby is calico and shes a female can you tell me if this is true
Answers:
The vast majority are female. The odds of a male calico cat are 1 out of 3000. It is to do with the color gene that carries "calico" is only on the X chromosomes (females are XX), but sometimes a male cat has 2 X chromosomes, making the male cat an XXY, and thus has the ability to be calico. Male calicoes are almost always infertile because of this extra X chromosome.
Most, but not all. It is VERY rare to have a male calico. Kinda neat.
"you must have two X genes to be a calico. Male calicos have genetic aberrations of various sorts, of which XXY is most common. While they are most commonly sterile, there *are* documented cases of fertile male calicos. However, the generalization that "all calicos/torties are female" is true 99.999 percent of the time"
Absolutely true. It is gene related coloration. And carried on both X's...Not on the Y.
Pretty much! It's a genetic thing.
i am sure that there r male calico cats but they r VERY rare. my aunt had a litter of kittens at her farm and one was calico and it was male. but mostly they r females. if u do find a male calico it is very special. they r really rare to find
well, its very very very rare to have a male calico
most of them are female but thre are male ones. they are very rare and expensive.
Although i dont know if it is true i have always heard this. But if you think about it there are a lot of cats in the world and theres a possibilatey that there are a few. I would suggest asking it on ask or google.com
yes it is true all calicos are females. i have a calico and i cant find a male that is a calico
idk......won... how they get pregnant? =o
I have heard that HOWEVER, I have a male cat who has 3 colors and he is a boy not a girl.
No, there are males as well, but most are females. Like orange tabbies are mostly male, but you'll find females from time to time, with them as well. A friend of mine does have a male calico. Take care...All the best;~)
Yes all calicos are female i have had cats since i was 3 weeks. I had one for my birthday and i mean the week after i was out of the hospital!
Most all calico's are females and males calico's are rare.
If you have a male calico, it could be worth a thousand dollars. That's how rare they are.
Yes it is correct that all Calico's are Female.
yes and I have one too! her name is Precious鈾?They have such beautiful color to them!!鈾?
no their not all fem males i had a male calico cat at one time . matter of fact the nab er down the sreet has a male calico cat.yellow orange white all colors on it
I had a calico cat and names "him" Cyle. Come to find out at the vet, it was a girl. The vet said that it is extremely rare to have a male calico, and if you do they are very exotic and worth a lot of money... So you would be very lucky. But I am not in anyway sell or breed animals, calicos or not, that is mean and unfair.
Most of all the calico cats out there are females, but sometimes you come about those rare occurences when you get yourself a boy calico. It's exactly the opposite with orange tabbies. Only males (most of the time yet again) are orange tabbies. If you come across a female orange tabby or male calico, they're worth tons of money. A thousand or more. They're extremely rare.
Take note though: calico is the furmarking, not the breed. All sorts of breeds have different fur markings (for example: gray or orange tabby.)
Yes tihis is true.
It's EXTREMELY rare to have a calico male. I have a calico female kitten. Her names fits, lol. Her name is Bella, beautiful in italian. She is SO cute!!!
Not true, one in exactly three thousand is male.
Nope,99% are Female Cats.1% are Male Cats.
The Calico is a XX Gene(Female)
In order for a male cat to be considered 'Calico',Male Cats must have the XXY Gene, which is different then their normal XY Gene.Male Cats are rare, and worth alot of money( DO NOT SELL THEM!),and they act the same as a female.Calico Females are normal, and Males are rare, basicly.
Yes there are males. They are very rare. They are not worth any more than a calico female though, unless they are fertile. That is even rare-er!
1-3,000 are male
1-10,00 are males are fertile
Toodles!
