Any home remedies for ear mites in a 10-12 wk old kitten?

Answers:
Cleaning out the ears three times weekly with cotton swabs soaked in Mineral Oil will eventually get rid of the mites. It can take 4-6 weeks of cleaning, but it does work.
Although I have never tried it I did have a neighbor who used garlic oil. You can buy it in little essential oils vials. Just a drop in each ear.
You will have a kitten that smells like tzaziki sauce
10-12 weeks is old enough for treatment with the ear drops you get at the vet. BUT let me just warn you: When I used this stuff, it made their skin peel and the fur came off of the ears. they will rub at it with their paws, so they can lose hair there too...and then of course they lick it, which can make them sick. Like the other guy said, mineral oil is probably the best way to go as it wont harm them.
Just buy Revolution or the new Advantage they have out. Both treat ear mites and fleas.
Please get this treated by a vet. My vet had a permanent resident cat at their facility. It had lost its balance due to ear mites that went untreated for weeks and got into its inner ear causing permanent damage. The poor thing staggered from one spot to the next and did so until the day it died. Besides, a week or two of using medicine from the vet beats trying to clean your cats ears with mineral oil for 4-5 weeks any time.
we had very good luck with mineral oil when our rabbits had really bad ear mites.
