Answers:
it is quite normal for some cats to have areas of black pigmentation on the lips and gums. Providing there is no inflammation or ulceration or bleeding here, and the visible surface is smooth, you should have nothing to worry about.
Sounds like you need to bring her to the vet and have a dental cleaning>
the black on the gums could be caused by dental problems, but if it is the gum color, it could also be a sign of aging. How old is your cat? I know that with dogs, as they age, their gums will change color, usually brown or black. Is your cat's breath bad? That's a good way to tell if it's their dental hygiene causing the coloration. GL
my cat "bobie" had black spots on her gums that were simply colorings..
you should get checked at vet... but it could be nothing.
gosh... that cat was great...miss her.
she was white with black spots. (enter the black spots on her gum).
good luck
Sounds like your cat has taking up chewing tobacco.

That means the cat has gum disease. Take it to the vet. You can't do anything about it yourself.
It's not disease. It's just pitment. It's like african americans have black gums sometimes. Nothing to worry about at all.
All 3 of my cats have that and nothing bad has happened to them for 2 years now. when i first noticed that i thought it wasn't something bad. if it was something bad, you would notice something going on with his mouth. if he isn't eating in any way, then take him to the vet. this reminds me of when my cat "Snickers" broke his leg.
