A peice of flesh is missing from my cat's leg?

It is just bone now and a bit of flsh sticking out. He is an outdoor's cat. His breathing is becoming raspy and he has lost his appetite. Is there any point in taking him to the vet beside putting him down?
Answers:
get him down to the vet asap!! There is a an emergrncy vet sercive that you can call that will take any animal at amy time of the day but i cant remember the number :( We had to call them at about 2am when one of my dad's sheepdogs began howling in pain. It turned out he had ripped his stomach on a barbed wire fence when he jumped it. He only needed stitches though and is better now :)
Yes, vets now, the point is that he is properly suffering (fish sticking out ?)
yes, take this cat to the vet and see what the vets opinion.
Take him to the vet
if you cannot afford a vet you will have to put it down. must be badly infected. catfight or a dog must have got it. but a vet could easily fix this cat.
i think it is best to take the cat to the vet to at least help to stop it suffering
Take him to the Vet, Call an emergency vet if you have to ...otherwise your poor cat is going to suffer needlessly.if you can't do that...call your local humane society, surrender him if you have to...whatever you have to do to get your cat help...do it now.
You don't mention his age. He sounds old - but if he is not, then I'd say take him to the vet for a patch-up. If he is old, then maybe it's time for him to go to the big Cat basket in the sky
take him to the vet...poor thing...
you have,nt taken the poor thing to the vet while it is suffering!!!.I don,t do this very often---YOU ARE DOOMED---
would you want to suffer take the poor thing to the vet at least then if he is in pain they can help he might not need putting down just stitches and a bandage don't let him suffer that's cruel if you have animals you should look after them properly!!
spend the money dude take him to the vet. he can't tell you whether he is hurting or not.
if you cant afford a vet, clean the wound, put on some antiseptic ( betadine) then get the cat on antibiotics for 10 days, something called vibromycen ( I have lots of cats and live in greece) I dont know if you can buy the tablets over the counter in the UK, here you can.
IF you can, give half a tablet am %26 pm for 10 days.
sounds like the cat has a very bad infection.
A vet may be able to help him, though he is very ill... He is most likely septic, and that could cause the breathing problems... Sepsemia is a very, very serious form of infection and it was caused by the avulsion to the leg, but might be treatable with antibiotics... It would cost more than putting him down, but could save his life, and the vet would give you the option, most likely... but at least do the humane thing and get your cat to the vet, otherwise that is straight up neglect. sorry about your cat. be well.
go to vet
YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR CAT TOTHE VET SO THEY CAN MAKE HIS LEG BETTER!!! YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN YOUR CAT IMMEDIATELY TO TEH VET. YOU SHOULD NOT AHVE WAITED FOR TEH WOUND TO BECOME INFECTED! EVEN IF HE LOOSES HIS LEG, HE WILL STILL BE ABLE TO HAVE A NORMAL LIFE. WHY DID YOU WAIT FOR SO LONG?
Yes, take him to the vets now, there is definitely a point of taking him there, you wouldn't want him to suffer would you, I'm sure that they will be able to put him back on the mend again, but you must do it NOW.
Why have you even got a pet if you need to ask this?
Your cat has been injured, you have a responsibility to take care of him.
Take him to the vert right now. the vet will know what to do.
He will have stiches to heal the flesh wound. If he has a broken bone the vet can set it so you might have a kitty in plaster while he gets better.
D*mn, you've waited long enough to be able to tell that your cat has lost his appetite? To ask your question and wait for answers HERE?
Get him to the vet, NOW!
Your cat is in pain, he needs help, meds, surgery, and if nothing can be done, to be put down humanely. Don't let him suffer any longer, and don't go play doctor yourself.
It's your responsibility to take care of your pet, live up to that!
DO NOT try to put this cat down yourself as someone suggested, I have heard from people that know that you can make things a lot worse if you don't do it the right way. TAKE THE CAT TO THE VET!! If you don't have any money the vet might do it for free rather than allowing the poor thing to suffer. It's possible the cat can be saved. Again, if you do not have the money work out a payment plan, they will not turn this poor thing away. Do not let this animal suffer any more, it's on you, it is your responsibility, step up and do the right thing.
well if you can afford treatment the cat may survive but may have to become an indoor cat. If the infection is to bad they may have to amputate the leg. My cat only has 3 legs and if you saw her get around you would never know until she rolled over to have her belly rubbed. Mine was born without the leg so if they do amputate it may take your cat more time to get use to it. Cats and dogs can get around remarkably well with a missing limb. So you should take the cat to the vet to explore what your treatment options could be.
cats always fight. the trouble is they carry nasty germs under their nails, the vet might be able to prescribe you an antibiotic and it might be as simple as that . if you love your cat than it deserves a chance .take it to the vet.
Take him to the vets! Our cat had a big hole in his leg once because of a stray cat, this was some years ago and he's fine now.
See? This is the reason why you need to have a litter box and keep your cat inside. Also, if people can't afford animals, not necessarily you (I don't know why you're not taking your cat to the vet) WHY do they have them? It's so cruel to let them suffer like that. Why wouldn't you think of it this way...how would it feel if that was you lying there with flesh torn out of your leg and your wife/girl said, "Gee, I don't know if he's worth taking to the doc, he might be gonna die anyway." Get him some help. He needs you to be responsible for his health.
the vet would know best, i am so sorry to hear about your cats injury.hope its positive news at the vets
this cat should of been to the vets before its been left to go this far.
Bathe the wound at frequent intervals with a wad of cotton wool which is soaked in a solution of a teaspoon of salt to 300ml 1/2 pint warm water. Gently press around the wound to release any puss.
Good luck, hope you cat gets better!
