Adopt a cat?

do u think if i adopt the cat will be calmer because its been like tortured,or will it be the same as buying a new one
Answers:
Not all rescue cats have be tortured. Calmness isn't affected by their background, it is the personality of each individual cat. However, I will say that adopting cat is more rewarding because you're giving home to cat who needed one.
You never know. Unless you're buying a pedigreed cat, you never truly know what it's personality will be like unless it is older and someone can tell you. There are some very miserable kitties in shelters, but then again there are a lot of excellent, sweet, affectionate ones, too. Also, keep in mind.. The cat who is miserable at the shelter may open up to be a wonderful pet after you bring him home. After adopting a cat from a shelter, you really feel like you've made a difference and have saved a life..
Not all cats in shelters have been abused, but if a cat has been abused they will generally be mean.
But shelters are the best place to get cats. Good luck!
Not all adopted cats have been tortured. Most come from very good homes. We get a lot of cats at our shelter that were owned by elderly people that either died or had to move to a living situation where they could not keep the cat.
They are all individuals - some are calm, some are not. In general, older cats are calmer than younger ones regardless of their background.
well probably because it just wants a loving owner Go for it
Most cats are in shelters because there's no place for them to go. 3 million cats and kittens are killed each and every year for lack of homes. There's no reason to buy while so many die. Save a life! Go to www.petfinder.com to find shelters near you.
All the cats I have had, either myself, or when I was at home were strays. Mine were all rescues from the streets. Each cat has their own personality. Unless you buy one from a breeder, and visit the place, and talk to others who have bought cats from that breeder, you will never really know what type of cat it may turn out to be.
If you adopt a stray, you are probably saving a life. Most shelters will know if a cat has been previously abused. One of the first cats I got hissed at me when I first saw her. She was just off the streets. On the second day, she had settled down. That sweet purr machine then spent the next 15 1/2 years with me, until succumbing to complications from thyroid disease.
It doesn't make a difference for their personality, but it better to adopt a cat because you would be saving a life.
