if you had a cat and then moved and left the cat because"you couldnt find it"or"it wouldnt come to me" for +5 months doesnt that mean that you abandoned the cat if you didnt even come back and look for it...now the ppl that are taking care of thte cat shouldnt it belong to them instead of the ppl that left the cat and those ppl have no right to even look in the cats direction

Hi Jay,
This makes me feel sick... Good of you to care. It appears as though these people don't care about the animals, just want to take advantage (are they intending to sell the kittens?) The fact that they haven't had the cat neutered in a way speaks for itself...
Are you the one taking care of this cat? A friend of yours? Can you/your friend take the cat with her kittens indoors in order to protect them?
Ultimately would you be able to ensure that the cat gets neutered? Otherwise she will just keep having one litter after another, it's not really fair on her...
If you/your friend can't take the cat and kittens in, would you be able to take them to a shelter? The reason I'm saying this is, from what you're telling of the previous owners they seem to be quite unscrupulous, and the cat should be protected from people like that.
Is there a possibility that those people might try to hurt you/your friend over this cat issue? You may need to get protection for yourselves as well.

If the cat was abandoned and subsequently adopted by someone else, then they have every right to keep the cat -- at least, in my estimation. After all, for five months they have fed and cared for the animal (including vet bills). Where this would stand in a court of law I have no idea.
yes, the same thing happened with my neighbors. the owners "couldn't find it" and the new people who moved in took it in. the people never came back to look for it, so it's now their cat.
You had this question up Yesterday and I will answer it any way. They should not even be looking for it at all because they left it and they have no right over it. The people that found the cat has the right to take care of the cat.
i kinda think that leaving the cat behind when u move is abandoned! i would never do that to 1 of my cats! i think that i would be soooooo upset if i left 1 of them anyways...
if you are dumb enough to let a cat outside when you know you are moving then you are not a good owner.
now if the people who "found" the cat reported to the SPCA etc that they have found the cat and so forth this covers them in the event the original owner comes looking for the cat.. (if brought into the SPCA they have to hold it for a required amount of time then the cat is legally considered theirs) same thing - when you report finding a cat.. you wait and if nobody claims it - its legally yours - however you must claim finding the cat to document a date..
similarly the person who lost it should file a LOST report -(even if it was left behind)
laws are different everywhere.. if the cat is tatooed or microchipped what owner is it linked too?
