about how many years
Answers:
It Depends on How big it is- a Small dog will live 15-16 years and a large dog will live to 12-14 years of course if you are planning on getting a dog then always ask the breeder she or he will have experience with that breed of dog and then you will get plenty of good tips, Also if you want to help then adopting a dog from a dog pound we have adopted from many before and they are always very nice dogs!!
Why is this under cats?
Usually not beyond 16-20 years, if they're lucky.

There is a video that talks about the REAL life expectancy of a dog and a cat.Check it out. HolisticPetMenu.com and watch the short video. It's a real eye opener! Or I could send you a link to it if you have trouble.
Very large breeds (Great Dane for example), about 10 years
Smaller breeds as long as 18.
I have a Great Dane that is 11. He's gotten very slow, his hips hurt but he still enjoys his food and being alive. I fear he won't see another birthday though.
Some years ago a good friend had a Cocker Spaniel that lived to 18 yrs 2mos.
Barring accident or disease that's pretty much the spread.
depends upon the size and the breed. I'd estimate 10-15 years for a large dog, 15-20 for a small dog. Most of the mixed breed dogs I've known have lived longer than the purebreds.
my dog is just 10 years old and she no longer jumps in the car. When you open the hatch she props up on her front paws and waits till you lift her in. She has arthritis hopefully in the summertime it will be better. Really small dogs have a life span of only 7 years. I have gone to the vet with a friend for the last trip. I have had larger dogs but after 10 years the joints do become arthritic and the medication is expensive apart from the fact that you do not want to see your loved ones in pain. One of my friends does not have a dog as he suffers too much when the dog goes. I just get another but I still suffer and have many fond memories.
I not really sure about dogs but I thought this was the cats forum.
