I have a 1 year old kitty who is picky as well. She really seems to like the Royal Canin brand dry cat food (they even have a special one made for finicky eaters). And as for canned food, Sheba just came out with a new line of really good quality wet food. They have one that is 100% white meat chicken, that my kitty really loved. Hope that helps!
Hi
I have 3 cats all have different eating habits and likes,if he's happy, go for it.
My cat is a really picky eater and will only eat a certain brand of dry cat food. He hates canned food and loathes treats! What we ended up doing was going to PetSmart multiple times and buying small bags of cat food till we found one that he likes. We returned the opened bags for full credit stating that our cat would not touch them.
My cats get fussy all of the time. They'll be fine and eat something one day and then decide that 'its not good enough' another. Get some frozen fish portions and cook them in the microwave, it'll only take a couple of minutes.
They'll eat when they're hungry enough.
talk to the vet. if he is a healthy weight, i think the vet might tell you to put his food and water out and the cat will likely eat when it's hungry.
some dogs get real finicky too..
i don't think dry biscuits are good for a cat.
if all else fails, perhaps you could continue with the boiled chicken, and perhaps do a search on the internet for CAT FOOD RECIPES... there are a lot of them out there.
avoid tuna because it's not good for cats, contrary to popular belief -- something to do with mercury.
i sure hope you get some good answers here! take care.
here you can find some recipes for home made cat food

good luck
My recommendation is to just try giving different brands of cat food...and DON'T feed table scrapes because they get use to table scrapes and of course table scrapes taste better then regular ol' plain cat food...lol but yeh try not giving as much table scraps and try different brands of cat food.try like store brand also... my cat only ate lowes food cat food...but yeh
that would be one of the best things...
so yeh hope that works

if not i'd recommend going to the vet...most vets offices charge office and exam fee...around 10-25$ ...

My cats all eat dry food mixed with a raw food diet. I would recommend that, I have 17 cats (all indoor, all strays I've taken in) and since I started the raw food on a regular basis my vet bills are almost non existent. I would recommend getting the book I listed below as a source. One thing you could add right now is sardines canned in oil, they are high in taurine which cats need and is hard to get. Very important to eye health.
Just because he seems happy doesn't mean he's healthy. Cats don't eat when they don't feel well so I definitely would suggest a vet visit to rule out any health issues.
I'm not sure what "Go Cat" is - are you in the UK? Dry biscuits definitely aren't good for him. I would try some better quality canned foods and maybe mix in some homemade concotions as well. I simmer chicken hearts and livers and then blend them up into a soup - my cats LOVE this and it's loaded with protein, taurine and gives them extra moisture - which is vital to a cat's good health.
maybe see if there is a different flavor of the food that you give your cat. maybe gradually change to a different brand
Hi there,
If you just try and buy different brands or flavours of cat food then you will be able to see what takes your cats fancy, maybe if he likes boiled chicken you could try getting him chicken flavoured food??
Good luck.
Amanda!
I have a cat and she will only eat the fish pouches, wont touch anything else, personally i think cats are funny creatures, I'm more of a doggy person, but i was once told " you are your dogs master and your cats slave" i never really understood what was meant by that, now i have a cat i have started to see what was meant by it..... all of my animals are spoilt rotten, so my advice would be as long as your cat is eating and getting the vitamins and stuff it needs i wouldn't worry too much.....
you are spoiling him. If he doesn't eat it when you put it down chuck it. Next day same thing. Its not cruel. He won't starve. If he is hungry he will eat whatever. Tinned foods are very good nowadays and have all the nutrients they need as do the dried ones. He will be a fussy eater if you let him away with it
Tuna in a tin cats loves tuna.
when my cats refuse to eat i get felix sprinkles and u put them on top of there food and it makes mine eat their meat

1 1/2 year old cat lethargic?

On Monday our AC went on the blink due to the awful heatwave we are experiencing in AL. The inside temp reached 100+ before service tech could make repairs. Our short haired cat seems fine but our long haired cat has become lethargic and won't eat or drink. This started yesterday morning (Tues.) and hasn't changed. He is alert to sudden movement and sounds, but doesn't go/come investigate as he usually does. I've checked for swelling and bumps best I could with all the hair and found nothing of significance. He IS shedding more so than usual to which I attribute to stress. His eyes aren't dilated and his skin color is pink.
Could this be heat stress or exhaustion? Something else?
I really don't have the funds (AC repairs) to let a vet check him out until Friday.
Answers:
Sounds like it may be diabetes. I was in the the same situation and when I took my cat in to the vet they said he did(lethargy is one of the main symptoms). Good luck!
If the inside temp was really that high, than your cat is suffering from heat exhaustion. Place a cool towel around your cats body to help lower his temperature. Make sure that he has plenty of cool water to drink as he could also be dehydrated. If he starts to display any of the following signs, get him to the vet asap. He could be having a heat stroke.
Rapid panting
Bright red tongue
Red or pale gums
Thick, sticky saliva
Depression
Weakness
Dizziness
Vomiting - sometimes with blood
Diarrhea
Shock
Coma

?why does my cat attacks me after eating?

my cat wakes me up at 6:00 everday crying so you can feed him.. when he does i wake up and give him food after he is done he jumps up and starts attacking me and bitting my leg why does that happen??
Answers:
Maybe try giveing him more food at night so he doesn't wake u up or maybe its his way of thanking u. I am not sure, but my cat does the same thing when he wants something, he will chase me back and forth meowing and nipping and biting at my feet than when i accidently kick him cuz i am trying to walk he gets even madder. He does this if his litter box is dirty if he wants attention or food or water or just being a brat.
Because he hates the food you give him or because you're not giving him enough. Or maybe because you don't give him anything to wash it down with. Or because he doesn't want you going back to sleep, so he's trying to make certain you are wide awake.
He probably wnts more food or water, Did you try that? Maybe he wants outside or something.
He needs you for food but he find it extrememly annoying to live with you. :)
now that you fed .the litter box needs tobecleaned.you try steping a bunch of that.i'd bite you too !!
Does he finish all his food? If so he may be telling you he wants more. Has he always done this? If not, what has changed in his life lately?
He could be "play biting." If he's not biting all that hard, he may just be being playful...my cat does that too..they just don't realize that it kinda hurts!

?? help getting rid of a cat!??

i want to get ride of a cat that i hate but i dont want to dump it in the woods because it is declawed and also it is terrified to go outside!?
Answers:
You are absolutely not right for dumping it in the woods. Take it to a good shelter (no-kill, preferably). If there's not one nearby, put an add in the paper, or put up flyers.
Please take it to a NON-KILL animal shelter! It will find a happy home! *Poor Kitty* =[
take it to an animal shelter. Then it can be adopted and put in a home where it will be taken care of.
Take it to a shelter--or--put an ad in the paper "free to a good home"
i dont know how u could hate a cat but ok,plz take her to a shelter where she can be taken to someones home to be loved!good luck!
I am glad to hear you don't' want to dump this baby.
Please do take her/him to a Free To Live Shelter, or advertise on free sites like craigslist.com or postaroo.com.
Unfortunately it is not easy to get rid of cats, because so many of them need homes! Probably the best thing to do is to ask around at work, church, school, etc if anyone is interested in your cat. I think it is good that you don't just want to dump it in the woods, but it's a shame you two don't get along. If it is giving you a specific problem, such as scratching furniture, etc maybe it can be resolved. If the cat is young, maybe people will be more interested in it.
You have two options. First you should try to find a home for the cat on your own. Ask your friends, coworkers, church members, etc, if they are wanting a cat or if they know anyone that would like a cat. I suggest doing this first because it costs money to take an animal to a shelter. It can also keep you from adopting an animal from a shelter as well. If you can't find someone to take the cat then you need to find a no-kill shelter that has an opening. Please do not take the cat to the Humane Society. I respect what they try to accomplish, but I hate the fact that so many animals get put down. Hope this helps!
PLEASE take it to your local Humane Society, they will find it a good loving home that is so deserves. I hope you DON'T put an ad out for a free kitty, you have NO idea what kind of people/person they are. At the HS they can legally check out the people that want to adopt it. And I cannot for the life of me fathom anyone hating a precious cat... I have 3 and I LOVE them as if they were my own children and I treat them as if they were! Take care of that sweet cat ok.
take it to the shelter , they will handle it
Thats awful of you! Try and find a new home. Put it in the paper, take it to a nonkill shelter, and put up posters and ask your friends if they want it!

*cat poo!*?

my next door neighbours cat keeps leaving me little presents in my back yard, how do i stop it?
Answers:
Get a cat yourself. They defend their own territory and won't leave "presents" in their own garden!
Alternatively, you can try putting down any of the following.
1) An onion chopped in half,
2) Vinegar, sprinkled in the most popular areas,
3) A clear plastic bottle filled with water (They run from their reflection)
Hope this helps.
Get yourself a water pistol and everytime you see the cat, soak it - it'll soon stop coming in. Or apparantly if you get some lion dung (seriously) cats will stop coming into your garden.
Buy a dog
break up moth balls and spread them harmless to flowers and everything cats hate the smell will stay out of your yard
Well just tell your neighbor your sick and tired of it. That lady needs to understand.
sprinkle pepper on your garden,
cat always 'sniff' before they go to the loo, one sniff of the pepper and theyll never return!
its also alot cheaper %26 friendly then special 'cat' deterrants
You're talking to a cat lover here so I would advise you to not do anything to hurt the cat since it is just being a cat.
My advice is that you pick up the little presents in your yard %26 discard them in the proper place. The cat actually believes that it is doing you a favor. She likes you and this is her way of saying "hi, I love you, %26 thanks for the yard to poop in."
One option you have is to use the hose to chase her off. You could turn your sprinklers on too. Cats hate water, so try to use that to discourage them for coming into your yard.
Please, do not ever ever shoot them with a BB gun or do anything to harm them. It isn't their fault that they have to poop when they happen to be in your yard.
shoot the cat ;)
no, but really, either get some cat poo from friends cats and place that in strategic places round your garden that will deter it, that or go to your local zoo and ask them for some lion or tiger poo.
sounds stupid i know, but the feaces from larger cats repel kitty cats, my mother used to work at a zoo and used to bring home the lion muck, great for the roses, and we never saw other cats come near our garden!
Squirt the cat with spray bottle or water pistol everytime it comes to leave presents! It'll get the message!
There are special peppers and/or crystals that you can buy to sprinkle around your yard, they're environmentally friendly and most have a nice smell for humans that cats hate. Sprinkle it where the cat likes to do his business.
By presants do you mean small creatures or poo's?
Dont do the water pistol thing he might fly off into the road or something.
If you mean creatures, he likes you, if you dont like it dont encourage him, it's a natural thing for them. Or if you see him hunting run out and discourage him.
I've only had this kind of presant twice, both times my cat got a telling off and when I see em after a bird I distract them so the bird gets away.
Not sure if it's in a flowerbed or not, but try and cover the soil with something like pinecones, those work well. If it;s oiut in the open, try mothballs, the cats won't go near enough for it to harm them, they'll avoid it.
My neighbour's cat loves leaving me presents, anywhere, even just out on the driveway where there's just tiles and no soil at all. I used mothballs, and he hasn't been back since.
You can get a harmless cat repellent to sprinkle around your yard, or a water pistol like some one else has suggested, and spray the cat each time he visits to do his poo's, there also grated orange and lemon peel too.
spray them with water (this isnt cruel and wont hurt them as long as it is room temp)
if this fails pour some viniger on that spot.
Good luck
Put down lemon juice which will deter the cat as they hate the smell of citurs..
Hope this helps.
Drop ya trousers and go and leave your next door neighbour a present on their doorstep lol.

"My cat is 8 yrs old and has developed a great increase in the thickness of her fur .It now appears clumpy.

She was what I would call the 'runt' of a litter , is small .and had skin problems as a young cat but these cleared several years ago. The fur on her head is normal. She has been treated with frontline
Answers:
I would take her to the vet, my cat's fur was very thick when he got older because he was unable to groom properly, but it can also be a sign of imroperly functioning kidneys/liver
Look at her teeth. More than likely she is losing her comb teeth, thoes tiny teeth that are between her canines. You need to start brushing her once a day.
Ummm...Gross
Has it just "matted"?
If that's all it is, you need to try and remove them - gentle combing or brush, and if that doesn't work, ease them gently away from the skin and try to cut them off. Otherwise she may need to have it sorted by your Vet.
Cats have been moulting a little oddly this summer due to the unseasonal weather and they really need a quick comb or brush through daily while shedding their fur. If mats are left, they can cause tearing of the animal's skin.
take her to the vets before it gets serious.. it could just be the weather or something but only a vet would know wots really wrong with her.. could be mites that have become immune to frontline and this could be causeing it.
Has she had a check up at the vets, as she may need a dental. Most cats over 5 yrs old require a dental check up.
You can purchase cod live oil capsules especially for cats from your pet shop, this will condition her fur.
Also you can purchase cat malt from your pet shop to help her with the ingestion of cat fur.
Also comb her every day.
If this does not help then a dental check up is definitely due.
Good Luck
